San Jose, California, June 27, 2023 – Introspect Technology, leading manufacturer of test and measurement products for high-speed applications is participating in the joint MIPI I3C®/I3C Basic℠ and MIPI Debug for I3C℠ plugfest in San Jose, California. Hosted by the I3C Working Group, I3C Basic Ad Hoc Working Group, and MIPI I3C Debug Working Group, this event offers implementers of MIPI I3C, I3C Basic and I3C HCI℠ the opportunity to carry out live interoperability testing between controller and target devices from both MIPI members and nonmembers in a confidential environment.

As a longstanding MIPI Alliance® Contributor member, Introspect Technology is driven to participate in interoperability testing efforts towards I3C development. During this event, it offers the world’s top chip and systems manufacturers an opportunity to test their devices with the company’s latest I3C Test and Debug Module and its accompanying I3C PurVue Analyzer™, real-time embedded oscilloscope in a live environment. Introspect Technology’s I3C Test and Debug Module was built from the ground up to help proliferate early creation of I3C sensor interfaces, while also containing rich features for use with MIPI Debug for I3C.

Introspect Technology helps developers of I3C ensure that their chips and components can interoperate with each other which in turn enables wide proliferation of the standard.

Characterization and Test

The I3C Test and Debug Module is a high-performance, ultra-portable tester which provides I3C controller and target capabilities for testing, exercising, and debugging I3C devices and host controllers. Each lane on the Test and Debug Module can act as a primary Controller or Target, or can dynamically change its role based on advanced MIPI I3C requirements. Additionally, the I3C Test and Debug Module leverages Introspect Technology’s unique analog voltage and timing circuitry to create extremely high-resolution analog controls, thus offering a powerful characterization tool during the early phases of product development.

Protocol Exercising and Analysis

The I3C Test and Debug Module supports full protocol exercising and includes advanced features such as in-band interrupts, multi-Controller controls, and dynamic addressing. This — coupled with an ultra-flexible pattern programming environment — allows for validating numerous operating modes and injecting errors at various stages within an I3C state machine. Finally, in addition to capturing traffic from a multi-drop bus, the I3C Test and Debug Module is able to extract state transitions and decode control transactions in hardware.

Debug for MIPI I3C

Introspect Technology’s I3C Test and Debug Module is a powerful solution designed to enable applications for MIPI Debug for I3C. Its lanes include native I3C Controllers that are multi-drop capable and that are backed by deep vector memory and Introspect’s extremely versatile software, Pinetree. This award-winning development environment is based on the Python programming language, and it contains facilities for manipulating and streaming large scan files through the I3C Test and Debug Module.
