See What Was Revealed When Probing a Smartphone Camera with the RSH2 Remote Sampling Head!
5 min
Introspect’s RSH2 Remote Sampling Head is a probing solution that offers twelve active probes packed into a simple, clean, and easy-to-use device. This multi-probe design enables easy attachment to parallel high-speed buses and can be configured for a large variety of applications. Additionally, the active nature of the probe means minimal loading for the circuit under test and results in high-integrity probing for high-bandwidth, low-voltage signals.
One of the most attractive features of the RSH2 is that it has universal compatibility with any 50 ohm instrument. Simply put, this means YES, the RSH2 can easily be connected to any oscilloscope for analysis; a very useful feature for labs containing multiple oscilloscope vendors!
An example test setup where the RSH2 is used for actively probing a phone is shown in Figure 1. Probe tips are soldered to the phone where live traffic between the phone’s camera and application processor is being measured on the scope. These tips are connected to the RSH2 through an SMPM adapter, and the measured signals are routed directly to the oscilloscope using a 50 Ohm cable assembly. In the figure, two channels are measured simultaneously, and you can see how clean the setup is.
In this application, the traffic is being sent using the MIPI D-PHY protocol. To test the signal integrity, eye diagrams for the clock lane were taken and can be seen in Figure 2.
Furthermore, Figure 3 highlights the behaviour of the data lanes, which show the transition from the low-power (LP) part of the signal to the high-speed (HS) section.
The RSH2 is the ideal probing solution for high speed applications. Universal instrument compatibility of the device means you can connect it to any oscilloscope model! Ready to start probing with an RSH2 Remote Sampling Head? Send us an email at info@introspect.ca.
